the painting is inspired by an old film,"Raise the Red Lantern," main casted by 鞏俐/Gong Li back in 1992. It's about a young lady becomes the 4th wife of a wealthy lord and must learn to live with the strict rules and tensions within the household. The sadness in this bride / a naive girl's eyes caught my attention while I watched the film with my family.
